Regular cleaning and removing clutter can limit the spread of infectious pathogens. But using disinfectant on frequently touched surfaces, including door handles, light switches, electronic devices and work surfaces—as well as in kitchens and bathrooms—is particularly effective. In a school environment where close contact between pupils is normal, infection control for schools can be difficult—especially as some detergents contain harsh chemicals that children may be more vulnerable to. This is why NocoSpray is a powerful solution as it does not contain harmful chemicals that are dangerous to the environment, children or animals—and it can disinfect a room up to 1000 m3 in at little as 30 minutes.
Disinfection in Schools
Choosing the best disinfectant for schools and educational facilities requires careful consideration as children are more susceptible to toxic ingredients that could cause potential problems, such as skin sensitivity or asthma. Thus, the need to eradicate harmful pathogens must be balanced with providing a safe and healthy environment for children and the whole school community.
What is NocoSpray?
NocoSpray is an appliance that generates a dry, antimicrobial mist. It destroys more than 99.99% of all the pathogens found in an area, preventing the spread of infectious disease. It works with NocoLyse, a disinfectant solution containing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), distilled water and silver. Together, they offer an effective infective control solution for schools because:
- An entire room can be disinfected at the touch of a button in 30 minutes;
- The dry vapour leaves behind no residue and surfaces do not need to be wiped down once the cycle has finished;
- The ingredients in NocoTech solutions are biodegradable and safe for the environment;
- NocoTech is non-corrosive and does not harm equipment, including electronics.
How Does NocoSpray Work?
NocoSpray, brought to you by Equipmed, is a patented, portable disinfection appliance. It is used with the NocoLyse disinfectant solution that consists of 6% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), distilled water and 30 ppm of silver. The disinfectant is heated, converting it to a dry, microfine vapour that is disseminated into the atmosphere. The vapour disperses evenly around the room and is diffused into difficult to reach places, killing 99.99% or micro-organisms on contact by causing them to self-destruct.
How to Use NocoSpray in Schools
NocoSpray can be used in a variety of settings—classrooms, bathrooms, gymnasiums and even areas used for food preparation. The appliance is highly portable and is effective in rooms up to 1000 m3. For rooms larger than this, two or more appliances can be set to run at the same time. For rooms, school halls, school gyms or auditoriums up to 20,000 m3 the NocoMax appliance may be a better option.
Before using NocoSpray, rooms must be cleaned normally first to remove dust, dirt and debris, such as papers so that germs have nowhere to hide. It is safe to open closet doors and drawers so the vapour can penetrate inside.
Once the room is cleaned, all the windows must be closed so that the NocoSpray can be started. Make sure the room is empty of people and animals during the cycle. There are several programmes to choose, and when the start button is activated, there is a delay of 15 seconds to vacate the room and shut the door before the chosen cycle commences. After the NocoSpray cycle is complete, the room is ready to use again within minutes.
Why Is NocoSpray Recommended for Schools?
In the current environment when Covid-19 has affected many schools, finding a safe and effective means of preventing and controlling infection is paramount. NocoSpray is TGA approved against Covid-19 and has been thoroughly lab-tested for its effectiveness on bacteria, viruses, fungus, spores and yeasts. As well as eliminating Covid-19, NocoSpray also kills the pathogens responsible for other infectious diseases, including flu, gastro-intestinal viruses, C-difficile and more.
Furthermore, NocoSpray
- Is effective at destroying airborne organisms as well as those on surfaces and prevent outbreaks to create a safer environment
- Germs do not become resistant to NocoSpray because the chemical reaction the vapour causes to micro-organisms destroys them completely
- As the product biodegrades completely within minutes, it is non-allergenic
- Has no carcinogens
- While the NocoSpray cycle is operating, staff can be getting on with something else
NocoTech—Recommended Infection Control for Schools
Covid-19 has highlighted the need to have robust infection control measures—particularly indoors where large numbers of people are gathered. It has also raised our awareness about the best ways to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious pathogens that can be harmful to humans. Whenever there are large numbers of children, it is vital to take preventative measures by decontaminating infected areas and preventing infection.
